After a great burger and a pint of Guinness, John Dougherty and Jeff McGregor, proprieters at the new McG's College Ave Burgers & Beer were entertained by descriptions of hurling. Being Irish-American themselves, the emerald call soon intrigued them enough to sponsor our second Appleton team!

McG's serves the best burgers on the Ave, with house favorites, the Pittsburger (coleslaw and fries on the burger) and the famous Royale with cheese (a well seasoned fried egg as a burger topping). They also serve a great black bean and vegetable patty that is sure to delight.

Saint Brendan's Inn in Green Bay has generously offered to sponsor the FRHC's first Green Bay hurling team, and how appropriate! Saint Brendan's sister inn, County Clare Irish Inn in Milwaukee is a cornerstone sponsor of hurling for our friends at MHC.

If you've never been to Saint Brendan's, then you're really missing out. The decor is absolutely beautiful, and highlighted by large placement stained glass windows bearing the county names of Ireland. Come in and feast on their traditional Irish fare.

Oshkosh Irish Fest will again kick off their festival dedicated to all things Irish on June 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at the Leach Amphitheater in Oshkosh. No Irish festival would be complete without hurling, and event organizer Matt Miller agrees! This year will feature a batting cage for folks to try to lay on the ash. The FRHC, along with the Shamrock Club of the Fox Cities will likely be pouring libations at the Guinness tent as well. See you there!

We had the opportunity to speak with Dave at Dublin's Irish Pub with a couple of jerseys in hand. Dave was enthusiastic about hurling, and about the FRHC. As our Oshkosh group grows this summer, Dave will surely be reaping those rewards. Our lads and lasses tend to work up a thirst!
